Transferable skills
Besides the outstanding research training, EDX offers a comprehensive transferable skills programme specially designed for PhD students to improve their individual and professional development.
We strongly recommended that you take at least 3 of the workshops offered by the programme. The courses vary in length and format (3 to 6 days long) and are specifically studied to accompany you in each step of your training.
The programme aims at strengthening your scientific background, gaining useful tools like foreign languages and getting prepared to professional integration.
Scientific courses
EDX provides scientific courses to PhD students in order to raise their profile and/or make up for possible scientific weaknesses.
Scientific course may be:
- Scientific courses specifically designed for PhDs
- Scientific courses from the Master degrees opened to PhD Students
Professional Skills Development
Professional skills development. They are workshops organised in more than one session to take as your PhD goes along from the beginning until the end.
A Doctorate is a project that you should carry out as a part of a team, with different stages, objectives and a provisional timetable. The highlight of this programme is the one week residential course Les Doctoriales that, we believe, every second year PhD students should attend.
Culture
They are courses designed to enhance PhD student individual skills and prepare to research, life and career after the PhD. You will find courses such as Introduction to the Philosophy of Science, management and decision-making but also General Scientific seminars at l'Ecole Polytechnique.
Usefool Tools
Typically they are language courses like English or English for scientific communication or French as a foreign language to favour foreign students' integration.
